Not many people know it but Galway City on the west coast of Ireland and Milwaulkee in the state of Wisconsin are sister cities, and this relationship is about to become stronger. Galway Tourism have learned that alderman of Milwaulkee, Michael Murphy has intimated his intention to decree a collaboration ‘for the mutual benefit of their communities by exploring educational, economic and cultural opportunities and to support and encourage opportunities for mutually beneficial practical exchanges in the fields of business, culture, health care, education and tourism.” All this comes in the run up to St. Patricks Day which is celebrated widely by both cities on either side of the Atlantic. Milwaulkee is also sistered with Morogoro in Tanzania, Nuevitas in Cuba and Schwerin in Germany.
